Chopta Tungnath Chandrashila Trek

The Chopta Tungnath Chandrashila Trek is one of the most scenic and beginner-friendly treks in Uttarakhand. Perfect for families, nature lovers, and first-time trekkers, this short Himalayan adventure offers breathtaking mountain views, spiritual significance, and a rewarding summit experience.

The journey takes you to Chopta, often called the "Mini Switzerland of Uttarakhand," surrounded by lush meadows and dense forests. The highlight of the trek is the visit to Tungnath Temple, the highest Shiva temple in the world and one of the sacred Panch Kedar shrines.

From Tungnath, continue to Chandrashila Summit (13,123 ft), where panoramic views of majestic Himalayan peaks such as Chaukhamba, Nanda Devi, Trishul, and Kedarnath await. According to mythology, Chandrashila is believed to be the meditation site of Lord Rama, adding spiritual importance to the trek.

The adventure concludes with a visit to Deoriatal, a beautiful alpine lake known for its crystal-clear reflections of the surrounding mountains.

Program

Day 01: Dehradun/Rishikesh – Chopta

Upon arrival in Dehradun or Rishikesh, meet our representative and begin your scenic drive to Chopta, often referred to as the "Mini Switzerland of Uttarakhand." The journey takes you through beautiful mountain roads, dense forests, and picturesque villages. Upon reaching Chopta, check in to your campsite or guesthouse and enjoy the serene Himalayan surroundings. Overnight stay in Chopta.

Day 02: Trek to Tungnath Temple & Chandrashila Peak – Back to Chopta

Wake up early and enjoy breakfast before starting the trek to Tungnath Temple, the highest Shiva temple in the world. The well-defined trail gradually ascends through lush meadows and offers stunning views of the surrounding Himalayan ranges. After visiting the sacred temple, continue your trek to Chandrashila Peak. From the summit, witness breathtaking panoramic views of major Himalayan peaks including Chaukhamba, Nanda Devi, Trishul, and Kedarnath. After spending some time at the summit, descend back to Chopta. Overnight stay in Chopta.

Day 03: Chopta – Deoriatal Trek – Return to Dehradun/Rishikesh

After breakfast, drive to Sari Village, the starting point of the Deoriatal Trek. Trek through beautiful forest trails to reach Deoriatal, a pristine high-altitude lake known for its crystal-clear reflections of the Chaukhamba massif. Spend some time enjoying the peaceful surroundings and capturing memorable photographs. Trek back to Sari Village and begin your return drive to Dehradun or Rishikesh. The tour concludes with unforgettable memories of the Himalayas.

Inclusion Details

1. You will be greeted by our trek team on your arrival at Chopta.
2. All stays at Chopta are included in Swiss tents on a double/triple sharing basis.
3. All meals are included from Day 1 dinner to Day 3 breakfast. Vegetarian meals will be served throughout the trek.
4. Skilled local staff who have ample knowledge of the route
5. Transportation from Delhi to Delhi as per the itinerary.

Exclusion

1. The above trek charges do not include the GST charges (5%).
2. In case your trek remains incomplete or uninitiated because of "force majeure", medical emergency, or by personal choice after you arrive at the starting point, you will not be able to get a refund, reschedule, or replace any services that remain unutilized by you.
3. Any additional cost incurred due to changes in Government Guidelines related to travel/trek will be borne by the Guest.
4. Anything which is not included in Inclusion.

How to Reach 

Air: You can book your flights for Dehradun (Jolly Grant airport) and from there take a shared or private cab to Chopta.

Road: You can take a bus to reach the Rishikesh bus stand and then take a private/shared cab to reach Chopta. 

Rail: Book a train to Rishikesh railway station and from there take a private/shared cab to reach Chopta.
