June: Peak season. Maximum facilities available at Gaurikund and Kedarnath. Warm days, cold nights. Crowds are heaviest in this month — start the trek early in the day.
July–August: Monsoon season. The Kedarnath trail becomes slippery in places and there is risk of road closures on the Rishikesh–Rudraprayag stretch. Not recommended for a comfortable experience.
September: Post-monsoon clarity. Skies clear, crowds reduce significantly, temperatures are pleasant. One of the best months for both Kedarnath and Tungnath. Ideal for photography.
