Mt. Friendship Peak (5289 meters / 17,352 feet) is one of the most popular beginner-friendly trekking peaks located in the Beas Kund region of the Pir Panjal range, Kullu district, Himachal Pradesh. Known for its panoramic Himalayan views and gradual technical exposure, Friendship Peak is considered an ideal introduction to high-altitude mountaineering in India.

The expedition offers climbers a chance to experience snow walking, glacier travel, and basic mountaineering techniques, without requiring prior technical climbing experience.

Program

Day 01: Arrival in Manali (2050 m)

Arrive in Manali and check in to the hotel. Meet the expedition team for introduction, briefing, and gear inspection. In the evening, enjoy a short walk to local attractions including Hadimba Devi Temple. Overnight stay in Manali.

Day 02: Manali – Dhundi – Bakarthach (3150 m) | Drive & Trek

Drive from Manali to Dhundi via Solang Valley, enjoying scenic views. From Dhundi, begin the trek towards Bakarthach through boulder zones and alpine terrain. Reach Bakarthach and set up camps.

Day 03: Bakarthach – Lady Leg (Base Camp) (3840 m)

Trek from Bakarthach to Lady Leg, the base camp for Friendship Peak. The trail passes through open meadows, snow patches, and hardened glacier tracks. Upon arrival, rest and acclimatize.

Day 04: Training & Acclimatization at Lady Leg

This day is dedicated to mountaineering training and acclimatization. Learn essential techniques such as:

  • Snow walking
  • Ice axe arrest

    Short acclimatization walks are conducted around base camp.

Day 05: Lady Leg – Summit Camp (4200 m)

After breakfast, ascend towards Summit Camp. The route involves steep climbs and snow-covered sections. Reach summit camp by afternoon and rest early in preparation for summit day.

Day 06: Summit Camp – Friendship Peak Summit (5289 m) – Lady Leg

Start the summit push early in the morning. Climb through rocky terrain, snow slopes, and gradual ridges using mountaineering equipment. Reach the summit of Mt. Friendship Peak (5289 m) and enjoy breathtaking Himalayan views. Descend back to Lady Leg Base Camp.

Day 07: Buffer Day (Weather Contingency)

This day is reserved in case of bad weather or delays during the summit attempt. If unused, it can be utilized for rest or early descent.

Day 08: Lady Leg – Bakarthach – Dhundi – Manali

Descend from Lady Leg to Bakarthach and further to Dhundi. Drive back to Manali, marking the end of the expedition.

Price Based on Per Person

  • Accommodation on share basis on full board using hotels or guest houses in Manali and in tents during the approach march and at base camp. Single tent/hotel room will be charged extra.
  • All meals are provided as per the program during the entire trip, including the approach march and base camp.
  • Technical Equipment: Crampons, Ice Axe, Seat Harness, Carabiner, Climbing Rope, Jummar.
  • Transportation using Tempo Traveler, Innova (Depending on group size)
  • One expedition leader and one helper-cum guide for each group who has requisite experience of climbing Mt. Friendship in the past. Any additional helper will be charged extra.
  • We will also provide one helper-cum guide for every four members. Any additional helper will be charged extra.
  • First Aid kit and Oxygen Cylinders
  • High-altitude food
  • Mules and Porters to carry expedition luggage. We will also carry 10 kg of personal luggage for each member.
  • Satellite phone for emergency and walkie-talkie sets for communication

Cancellation Policy

  • Cancellation Charges: Notice of cancellation must be made in writing in the name of Himalayan Holidays.
    For cancellations made 60 days prior to the start of the tour, there will be a cancellation fee of 25% of the invoice.
  • For cancellations made within 60 to 30 days of the start of the tour, there will be a cancellation charge of 50% of the invoice. For cancellations made within 30 days of the start of the tour, there will be a cancellation charge of 100% of the invoice.
  • In certain cases, the cancellation policy (including conditions applicable to the advance deposit made or required for holding the reservation) may differ and would be applicable as per the cancellation policy of that hotel / service provider. This will be charged in addition to the cancellation policy.

Unused Services and Refunds

  • No refund will be made for any unused services or other arrangements due to any changes in schedule made by passengers while travelling. However, in certain cases, the refund will be considered as per the policy of the carrier, hotel, tour company, or other suppliers used for providing services.
  • A refund request must be made within 2 weeks of the completion of the trip.
  • If there are any additional expenses due to bad weather or any other reason beyond the control of the tour operator on account of hotel stays, transportation, meals, etc., an extra bill will be raised. Neither Himalayan Holidays. nor the participating suppliers or hotels will be responsible for the additional expenses.

The right is reserved to cancel or alter any package as conditions require. Governing Law

This condition and each term shall be governed by and constructed in accordance with the laws of India without reference to conflict of laws principles, and disputes arising in relation hereto shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New Delhi.
